Inner Diaper Schwalben

The inner diaper is the heart of the AI3 ManufakturWindel.

The inner diaper is what makes our diapers waterproof. It is made of PUL (polyurethane laminated), an ÖkoTex certified fabric made of polyester that is both waterproof and breathable.

The inner diaper is formed like a pouch, with overlapping edges designed to enclose the insert(s) perfectly, making leaks almost impossible! Simply snap the inner into the outer diaper, and add your insert(s).

The inner diaper comes in two sizes, a tiny newborn one and this standard size. The standard size fits both of the outer diaper sizes, 1 and 2. If your baby has outgrown the newborn diapers but is still very small, so that the inner diaper is too long to lay snugly in your baby’s groin folds, you can adjust the lenght by tightening the inner diaper’s elastic band. You will find a gap in the seam along the side of the inner diaper, where you can pull the elastic band out of its tunnel. Tie a knot to shorten the elastic band, and let it slip back into the tunnel. Untie the knot when your baby has grown big enough - imprints on baby’s skin mean that it’s time for the normal size inner diaper.

The standard inner diaper is chocolate brown, but this one is pink. 

PUL inner diapers can be machine washed hot, up to 60°C, when necessary. However, it is usually sufficient to let them air out between diaper changes, or to rinse them by hand. They dry quickly near (not on!) a heater or outdoors in warm weather. We do not recommend putting PUL inner diapers in the clothes dryer.
